About The Artist

Art defies definition. And an artist can never be described enough. Artist Narendar Reddy from India treats art not just as a creative work but as science. There is a philosophy that guides this artist from Hyderabad to pour life onto the canvas which is the only world that exists for him when he is at work. When he sits down to ‘sign off’ on his creation, one can notice the definite satisfaction in his strokes. Sometimes the artist may be guided by the freedom that he gives his hands in deciding what specific shape the painting that he begins has to take. Most other times, the painting that ultimately looks so royal and soothing on the canvas is something that he had already created in his mind and simply transferred it on to the canvas with his brush.

US President George Bush has a portrait of himself done by Narendar Reddy. This was presented to him by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, when Bush visited Hyderabad. During his high-profile visit to Hyderabad even his predecessor Bill Clinton was presented a portrait of his by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu. Clinton was pleased with the portrait done by Narendar Reddy. When Tony Blair visited Mahbubnagar, the district Narendar Reddy hails from in Andhra Pradesh, (Devarkadara Village now in Telangana) the administration presented the dignitary with his portrait done by Narendar Reddy.

In the world of art, Narendar Reddy has created a special place for himself. Art, he was convinced, had no barriers. And so he flew to several countries including the US, UK, France, Germany, Netherland, Japan, Malaysia, Honkong, Singapore and Havana to conduct shows. He is a regular visitor to US, UK and Japan. The response that he received was tremendous. Narendar Reddy’s art is not just for art’s sake. Look closely at the scenic beauty that he has captured on the canvas and you know that this nature-loving artist just loves recreating it. If you can imagine it, you can live it. That is the motto that drives him.

Trained in art at the famed Jawaharlal Nehru Technology University (JNTU) in Hyderabad, Narendar Reddy did his research in art in Aichi in Japan. Exposed to the works of the great masters during his trips abroad, Narendar Reddy developed a style of his own.”A painting is complete only when my heart tells it is. When there is complete peace within me, I know I have done what the painting expected me to do to it,” Narendar Reddy says. Nature lovers speak to trees and even understand them. There is a communication which takes place between them. If man and beast can also perfectly understand each other, the artist has always felt, a great understanding should develop even between the artist and the painting that he creates. “Yes, there is a lot of communication that takes place between me and my works,” he says. And such paintings when they adorn the walls of people who love art bring life all around them.
